The United States, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service Food for Progress Program, supports Georgia in strengthening its dairy and beef sectors and food safety systems.

January 28th, ambassador Kelly Degnan visited Zekari’s milk processing factory in Village Siktarva, Terjola municipality and observed how USDA assistance helped the improvement of dairy processing operations.

Zekari can produce safer products by implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control point management system with USDA’s technical assistance. Machinery purchased through USDA-funded matching grants and new technologies will help the business to become more compatible with international standards and more successful in international markets.
